Melissa Hartman was awarded a Masters in Elementary School Counselor K-6th with high honors from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and earned a Bachelors in Speech Pathology from Bowling Green State University. Melissa Hartman's counseling experience includes both mental health and school counseling fields. She has served in community mental health agencies and school districts in the states of Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania. Presently, Melissa Hartman assists PreK-2nd students as an Elementary School Counselor at George G. Blaisdell Elementary School since the 2007-2008 school year.
Mission Statement: The mission of the George G. Blaisdell Elementary School's professional school counseling program is to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program that is aligned with the professional and ethical ACA and ASCA standards and addresses the academic, career, and personal / social development of every student through a partnership with school personnel, families, and community resources to provide every student opportunities to become lifelong learners and productive citizens of a global society.

Vision Statement: The George G. Blaisdell Elementary School Counseling Program supports every student acquiring the academic, career, and personal/social skills to reach their fullest educational potential and successfully manage their lives as healthy, responsible, productive citizens who respect themselves and others; making a positive difference in our school and community.

National School Counseling Week:
National School Counseling Week will be celebrated from Feb. 1–5, 2021 to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by ASCA, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. National School Counseling Week is always celebrated the first full week in February.

Clothing Collection: Throughout the school year (September to June), the School Nurses will collect clean, gently used or brand-new clothing items of young children sizes for George G. Blaisdell Elementary students who are in need. If donating gently used clothing items, please make sure all items are clean and washed before dropping them off at the school. Please donate clothing items at the Front G.G.B. Office. Thank you for helping the students at George G. Blaisdell Elementary School!
